Six months ago I was probably the least likely person the be writing about my weight loss success. 42 Pounds overweight, embarrassed, frustrated and slightly depressed my weight problem was getting me down. My sheer determination led to me to finally find a simple method that actually works for “real people” with a busy life.

In between being a mom, a wife and a full time receptionist I found it next to impossible to lose weight. In fact, all that my lifestyle was doing was packing on the pounds of fat in all the wrong places.

I was never the skinniest girl in the world. Although I was never fat when I was younger, I started gaining a lot of weight in my early twenties. For most of my adult life, I’ve been trying to lose weight. Diet after diet, and NOTHING seemed to work for me.

At times I felt like I was cursed. I tried everything. Atkins, Southbeach, Raw Food (uggg!) and even Weight Watchers. Although I lost some weight, none of them worked long term. I’d always gain the weight back PLUS some.

After my son was born things got even worse. I gained almost 15 pounds! I joined the gym and hoped that exercise will help me, but I just never had the time and ended up resorting to the next best diet that came along.

It was starting to affect me in so many ways. I became very self conscious of my weight – to the point where I could not be naked in front of my husband. I felt embarrassed and UNSEXY.

When my sister’s wedding came up I had the wake up call that I needed. I had to lose ten pounds. Everybody was going to be there and I was determined to lose the weight and look great. This was easier said than done though. I ended up making 2 embarrassing weight loss mistakes...


My Embarrassing Diet Mistake #1
I figured that if I can just lose 15 pounds for the wedding it will make a huge difference. Not just in the way I look, but also to give me the confidence to go out again and face the world – not feeling fat or looking like a whale. 15 pounds is easily a dress size and if I can only lose ten pounds I could actually fit into that dress that I really wanted to buy.

It was then when I saw “that episode” of Oprah where Dr. Oz was talking about Acai berries and how amazing it is for weight loss. When I looked for it on the internet, I found this site that had the most impressive testimonials ever. AND to top it off they offer a free trail of their Acai weight loss supplement. I just had to try it!

Drink a pill twice a day. Lose ten pounds in ten days. Simple. Right? WRONG! After two weeks I lost about 5 pounds and it’s then when I realized that the “free trail” expired after 14 days and that they are now charging me $29.99 per month.  That’s almost $300 a year!

If it worked I would probably have paid it. No doubt about it, but even after 3 weeks I lost a measly 7 pounds – and it left me feeling bloated all the time.


My Embarrassing Diet Mistake #2
With the wedding just 6 weeks away I had to do something fast. I could not go to my sister’s wedding looking like whale, dressed in a tent. I had to lose ten pounds and lose it fast.

It was then when I came across colon cleansers and fat flushes.  I don’t know what it was, but the clever website, amazing testimonials and beautiful celebrities just sucked me in. Before I knew it I ordered yet another “free” trail.

This time it wasn’t a miracle pill, but a miracle drink. Basically this cleanse is meant to “flush” fat from your body; a great idea but if only it was that simple. Apart from feeling so hungry all the time, I was hit by my first $39.99 bill after just 2 weeks. Same thing. Once the trail expires, they automatically bill you EVERY month.

It definitely worked better than the Acai scam, but I soon figured out that the weight you lose is not fat, but just water weight and since it flushes EVERYTHING out of your body you better make sure you are near a toilet – at all times!


How I Finally Lost The Weight...

Feeling absolutely jaded about my experiences, I was speaking to my sister about the wedding that night. She told me that she has lost almost 21 pounds and that her wedding dress is now too big. She’s been telling me about this accelerated fat loss diet she’s been on for a while, but I always laughed it off because I heard the word “diet” in there.

I had my fare share of diets in my life, but if my sister can lose 21 pounds in 3 weeks, then it must work for everyone. She’s got the worse willpower in the world. She can’t go more than 2 days without chocolate cake. Seriously.
